WP7 – Knowledge dissemination

Objective of WP7 is to promote awareness about EC support to convergence regions, to inform general public on the purpose and results of MODBIOLIN project, and to call attention of stake holders to the quality of research done in BCAS with the aid of new infrastructure.

Main tasks

T 7.1: Informative web page

Informative web page on MODBIOLIN project should be created within one month since project start to describe basic characteristics of the project, explain its purpose and significance, review the use of model organisms in BCAS, and monitor progress in infrastructure and progress in project realization as well.

T 7.2: A brief account on the project

A brief account on the project will be offered to Czech media by means of press conferences and personal contacts. The first press conference should take place at the occasion of the kick-off meeting and another crucial one at project termination.

T 7.3: Informative materials

Own informative materials should be prepared in English and Czech to provide information to important stockholders. A leaflet in both languages will be distributed at suitable occasions. After the interim report, an article on the project should be published in the Academy Bulletin. Poster will be prepared for relevant meetings (e.g. seminars on the research support organized by the EC or CZELO office in Brussels, the Technology Centre in Prague, fairs of research and education such as Gaudeamus in Brno, etc. The information on MODBIOLIN should also be forwarded to organizations that focus on the promotion of biotechnologies.

T 7.4: Short film

Short film (max. 20 min.). Movie both in Czech and English version will be prepared on MODBIOLIN as a crucial component of BCAS research activities.

T 7.5: Presentations on MODBIOLIN for general public and NGO´s

Presentations will be organized at the occasion of “The Week of Science” and “Day of Open Doors” that take place every October/November. The seminars will explain the purpose of infrastructure building, the importance of EC support, and will emphasize project impact on the S&T potential of the South-Bohemian District. Participation on up to 2 international meetings promoting EC support is also envisaged.

Progress

Support and infrastructure gained within the project is widely acknowledged in multiple publications. Apart from that results achieved in respect to individual tasks are summarized below.

  • The public web page is running since first project month.
  • Press conference at the occassion of kick-off meeting was realized on 5th December 2012.
    Presentation from the conference is available here.
  • Internet portal Gate2Biotech, that is focussed on advances and innovations in the field of biotechnologies, was used for knowledge dissemination as more efficcient replacement of 2nd press conference (T 7.2) and as an additional activity in frame of T 7.5. It was used to to reach both general public and the business sphere (crossectional activity withT 9.3).
